How the Law of Attraction Limits You

By now everyone has heard or is familiar with the law of attraction. When we desire to have something, we have been taught to focus on just that to watch it come into formation. It is true that everything you desire to achieve and have in life will be yours.

“Well what in the heck happened to my red bike with the silver bell?!”

So often we feel that the laws of attraction are breaking their own laws when it comes to delivering the goods we requested. The reason we may feel this way is because we are holding a strong attachment the image of what we want that we fail to take notice to the riches that come our way in other forms. It’s this determined focus that causes us the emotional and energetic detriment.

“Goals are like magnets. They’ll attract the things that make them come true.” – Tony Robbins

So many of us have been conditioned to believe that goals are the secret to success. There’s so much value to this teaching, but it does have its limitations. Many people who are on the law of attraction bus, meditate on the things that they want. Their modus operandi becomes that one thing. This one track mind has both its benefits and its faults.

“I got my mind on my money and my money on my mind.”

Focusing on money, a certain lifestyle and other material things makes us vibrate with a certain quality. This only limits our true potential for us to receive the cosmic wealth we could we receiving otherwise. The law of attraction enthusiasts will teach us to focus on a specific dollar value, or a specific brand model of an item and then showcase it on their vision boards. As we invest our attention to such things, we are capping our true potential.

Ask and you shall receive.

Imagine asking someone for $500. When the person hands you the money, they tell you that, had you asked for $1000 they would’ve given it to you. But now it’s too late. This is what many of us are doing. We are selling ourselves short. When you ask for a specific thing, you become bound to that one thing. History has proven time and time again, that when we receive the one thing we have longed for, it isn’t long before we are bored of it; our celebrations are cut short. Then we go on wanting other things; it never ends and happiness is always one step ahead of us.

“Running water never goes stale.”

When we keep our mind fixated on one thing, it becomes deranged and perverse. Think of how uncomfortable it is to hang around someone who only thinks of money, or someone who only thinks of sex; it’s not long before we look for an exit. They lack a purity in their energy that distorts their frequency vibration. Often these are people we find difficult to lay trust in.

“You must empty out the dirty water before you fill the pitcher with clean.” – Idries Shah

It’s like a lake that contains the same water for a period of time. Soon the water will become turbid, murky and gross. As we are made up of 70% water, this is what happens to our energy when we become obsessed with one thing.

You ain’t the center of the universe.

Most often, when considering the law of attraction, many of us will meditate on the things that will satisfy our own selfish means. In manifesting the dollar amount or purse we desire, we are not adding value to anyone else’s life. This is something that is practised by those who fail to realize that we are all connected as a single energy. When we do things that help others, we feel more value than any dollar amount we could receive otherwise.

“Relax, let go. But remember only one thing: You are a witness.” – Osho

When meditating, rather than thinking of what you want, think of nothing. Become a witness. You can’t be attached to your desire; you need to let go of the attachment. By releasing your emotional and energetic attachment to things, you will start to increase your frequency vibration in greater amplitude. This will make you available to cosmic wealth. When you’re vibrating at such a level, your energy becomes infectious and all others will benefit.

“Be all you can Be.” – U.S. Army

I am a firm believer of goals and visions, however I do understand that what the universe has in store for me is far greater than what my mind can ever conceive. It’s the ego that keeps us thinking we need to be in control. We may only ride the waves of cosmic bliss by surrendering to what the universe presents to us. By doing this, we may find success sooner than we would’ve have expected. It’s a state of being. Let go and just be.
